Allegan Area Career and Technical Education (CTE) is undergoing systemic change driven by pressures which include the state’s new high school academic curriculum requirements, stiffer federal regulations for effectiveness and our local business community’s demand for a higher level of skilled, career ready workers. Couple this with our desire to offer quality service to our local districts, and we have a recipe for new and exciting opportunities, a broad transformation and a catalyst for excellence.
In order to meet state requirements, we are embedding the new mandated academics into our program curricula along with a host of business partnerships that will provide new opportunities for nearly 650+ CTE students. The quality and service ethic of our programming is also being visited with an “eye toward” each program’s alignment with contemporary business practices, industry standard and innovation. We are fully committed to invest what it takes to bring our programs up to contemporary industry standards. New energy is being generated as we consider efficient ways to market our programs and embrace student-friendly practices. We are also working on articulation agreements with local colleges to allow our students to enroll in post high school training. Our overall objective is to promote a level of CTE quality and contagious school energy that is defined and fostered from within. Our mission for 2006-2007 is to reinvent CTE education at the ACATEC as a launch pad for career and technical service delivery that is: Academically rigorous, relevant to students needs, responsible to the tax payers, exceeds the state standards and establish a new standard of organizational excellence.
